On Monday, Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed in Zamfara State for Counter-Terrorism Counter-Insurgency operations killed 12 terrorists and demolished their base.
This was revealed in a statement released on Tuesday by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director, Army Public Relations.
According to the statement, “Troops carried out a targeted clearance operation to dismantle the suspected terrorists’ operational base in the town of Maru, acting on credible intelligence on the terrorists’ activities.”
After engaging in a heavy gunfight with the terrorists, the brave soldiers killed 12 of them, forcing the remaining ones to escape.
“After forcing the terrorists from their base, the troops destroyed it.”
The statement lists the weapons found as one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, twelve rounds of special 7.62mm ammunition, and two handguns made locally.
It was also reported that 18 rustled cows and ten motorcycles had been found.
The Nigerian Army’s resolve to combat terrorism and insurgency was further reaffirmed in the statement.
The statement said, “The operation’s success is evidence of our troops’ commitment to fighting against terrorism and insurgency.”
“The Nigerian Army will not relent in its determination to prevent terrorists from operating in the area and to safeguard the safety and security of our citizens.”

Kidnappings and other terrorist acts in several sections of Northwest Nigeria were attributed to Janbros.
