The Osun State Police Command has arrested one Yekini Ajao for attempting to obtain an undisclosed amount of money from some members of the public on the pretext of being a lawyer.
A source said Ajao was apprehended while negotiating with some people in need of legal services in Osogbo.
The suspect, who was arraigned before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for impersonation, on Friday, was said to have committed the crime on April 3, 2019.
The police prosecutor, Elijah Oluwasegun, stated that the accused falsely presented himself as a lawyer with a motive to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
He added that Ajao was arrested by the police, who had placed him on surveillance for a long period of time.
The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge and the magistrate, Segun Ayilara, ordered that he should be remanded in police custody for investigation of his certificates.
Ayilara adjourned the case till April 24 for mention.
