The governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, received a condolence visit from the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum on Wednesday over the passing of his older brother, Sunday Makinde.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Sunday, 65, passed away in the early hours of Friday after a brief illness.
NAN also reports that the chairman of the forum, Gov. Bala Mohammed, led his colleagues on the condolence visit to Makinde in his private residence at Agodi GRA, Ibadan.
Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, extended the forum’s profound sympathy to Makinde, characterising his late brother as a man who lived a fulfilled life.
He praised his colleague from Oyo State for his perseverance, saying that even after losing his older brother, he never abandoned his job.
Mohammed assured Makinde of the forum’s solidarity during this difficult period.
In his reply, Makinde thanked his colleagues for their prayers and support and praised the moral and emotional encouragement they had given him.
He said that the visit had reaffirmed the unity and brotherhood among PDP governors.
NAN reports that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers and his Osun counterpart, Ademola Adeleke, were among the PDP governors in attendance.
