As part of efforts to rid Oyo state of criminal activities, the state police command has paraded 9 suspected armed robbers for various crimes ranging from vehicle hijacking to diversion of goods.
At the parade held at the Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, disclosed that the suspected robbers namely ,Segun Folorunsho, Sokunbi Oluwagbemiga, Olumide Akinyemi, Mohammed Olajide, Azeez Okunola, Salawudeen Farouk, Amos Friday, Sunday Peter and Chinedu Victor were arrested at different locations in Oyo state.
He listed the items recovered from them to include motorcycles, hijacked vehicles, phones, a truck loaded with bags of rice, 20 tonnes of groundnut oil, valued at twenty-two million one hundred and sixty-eight thousand eight hundred naira.
Osifeso also explained that the Oyo police command has finalized its investigation in a case of vehicle hijack in Ekiti involving two of the suspects, Segun Folorunsho and Sokunbi Oluwagbemiga, adding that the vehicle has been transferred to Ekiti state police command.
The PPRO further reinstated the commitment of the command under the leadership of CP Adebowale Williams in maintaining tranquility in the state.
Some of the suspects who however spoke with newsmen confessed to the crimes they are charged with while some denied the allegations leveled against them.
