The State Government of Bauchi has declared its intention to initiate a thorough renovation of the National Youth Service Corps camp located in Wailo village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
Senator Bala Mohammed, the State Governor, disclosed this on Tuesday while giving a facility visit to evaluate the camp’s state.
The Governor’s visit confirmed that the camp has been in terrible shape for some time.
The Governor voiced concerns about the state’s poor infrastructure and facilities, which have made it more difficult for the NYSC program to run smoothly.
He emphasised, “Given the importance of the NYSC scheme
in promoting national unity and development, the rehabilitation of the camp is crucial in providing a conducive environment for corps members to undergo their orientation and training.”
“The comprehensive rehabilitation will include the renovation of buildings, upgrading of infrastructure, and provision of modern facilities.
“This project will be completed in record time to ensure that the corps members enjoy a comfortable and productive stay at the camp.”
The Governor stated that the state government’s endeavours to enhance the welfare of corps members, promote youth development, national service, and the NYSC program are reflected in the camp’s renovation.
On her part, the state coordinator of the scheme, Mrs. Rifkatu Daniel, in a thankful remark, opined that “the rehabilitation of the camp will not only benefit corps members but also contribute to the economic growth of the local community, as the project will create jobs, stimulate local economic activity, and enhance the overall development of the area.”
