Idowu Kehinde, 35, has been taken into custody by Ogun State Police Command operatives for reportedly stealing aluminium windows and ceiling fans from a mosque in Adiyan neighbourhood of Agbado, Ogun State.
According to information obtained, Kehinde allegedly climbed over the Mapara Moboluwaduro Central Mosque’s fence to obtain entry before removing four aluminium windows and eight ceiling fans, which were worth N520,000.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest on Wednesday and stated that the suspect admitted to selling the pilfered goods to a man named Awal Yusuf.
“On January 27, 2025, at about 9:00 am, we received a report that one Idowu Kehinde, 35, jumped the fence of Mapara Moboluwaduro Central Mosque in the Agoro area of Adiyan, Agbado, and stole eight ceiling fans and four aluminium windows valued at N520,000,” Odutola stated.
The suspect will be charged at the Ojodu Abiodun Magistrate Court, she continued, adding that a bag containing some of the stolen aluminium window frames had been found.
“The suspect was arrested and brought in for interrogation, where he confessed to selling the stolen items to one Awal Yusuf, 31. A bag containing aluminium frame windows has been recovered, and the suspect will be charged to court as soon as possible,” she said.
