The Katsina State Acting Governor, Faruk Lawal approved the review of the 24-hour restriction of movement order that was imposed on the Dutsinma Local Government and 33 other Local Government Areas of the State under the curfew of 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.
Lawal gave his approval after learning of an improvement in the area’s security.
He gave the order to keep the state’s restrictions on unusual gatherings and protests of all kinds in place.
Nonetheless he was grateful for the polite way the security forces dealt with the hoodlums who used the peaceful protest to carry out illegal actions.
Lawal also thanked parents, guardians, and community leaders who cautioned their children and youths from joining the bandwagon of the miscreants.
A number of youths have been arrested, according to the state security council, in relation to the recent incidents of violence, looting, and vandalization of both public and private property.
Shortly following the council meeting, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, announced that several of the individuals detained had already faced charges in court for reported criminal conspiracy including theft, vandalism, and public disturbance.
According to Faskari, the council had once again urged the public to maintain calmness and adherence to the law, saying that all hands were on deck to ensure the security of people and property.
