The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, on Monday, inaugurated the Chairmen, Commissioners, and members of the Sharia, Zakkat and Hubusi Commissions.
Sanusi DawakinTofa, the governor’s spokesperson, made this announcement on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, Yusuf highlighted Kano’s significant influence in the Islamic world during his remarks at the inauguration, pointing to the city’s numerous renowned scholars, Islamiyya schools, and Islamic study centres.
He expressed confidence that the appointees would carry out their responsibilities with commitment, zeal, and integrity, noting that they were chosen on the basis of merit, competence, and reliability.
“The governor charged the Sharia Commission with the responsibility of fostering unity among Muslim faithful across different sects to enhance peace, stability, and socioeconomic development in the state.
“Similarly, he tasked the Zakkat and Hubusi Commissions with devising effective strategies to collect alms (Zakkat) from wealthy individuals to support the less privileged, thereby reducing poverty to the barest minimum.
“The Sharia Commission has Sheikh Abbas Abubakar Daneji as its chairman while Malam Yahaya Gwani Hadi and Sheikh Ali Dan Abba are Permanent Commissioner and Permanent Commissioner II respectively.
“Other members are Malam Abubakar Mai Ashafa, Malam Naziru Saminu Dorayi, Sheikh Mukhtar Mama, Sheikh Ibrahim Inuwa, Malam Adamu Ibrahim, Alhaji Abubakar Sharif Bala, Alhaji Yawale Suleiman Gulu, Malam Aliyu Umar, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Na’bi and Malam Nasiru Sheikh Aliyu Harazimi while Sheikh Dr Sani Ashir will serve as Secretary.
The Zakkat and Hubusi Commission has Barrister Habibu Dan Almajiri as chairman while Sheikh Nafi’u Umar Harazami and Dr. Ali Quraish are Permanent Commissioner I and Permanent Commissioner II respectively.”
Members of the commission included Malam Yahaya Muhammad Kwana Hudu, Sheikh Hassan Sani Kafinga, Sheikh Arabi Tudun Nufawa, Malam Sani Sharif Umar, Professor Garba Muhammadu Tofa, Malam Adamu Muhammadu Andawo, Malam Surajo Usman, Sheikh Adamu Guda,bMalam Inuwa Mustapha, Malam Nura Badamasi, Malam Abdullahi Sarkin Sharifai, Representative of the Kano State Civil Service Commission
Yusuf expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated officials would discharge their responsibilities effectively and contribute to the advancement of Islamic governance and social welfare in the state.
