Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been charged at the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday.
This comes after the Ogun State Police Command declared him wanted and he turned himself in to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba on Wednesday.
The charges stemmed from an incident on February 5, 2025, when Portable allegedly led an attack on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development during an enforcement exercise at his bar in the Sango Ota area.
The authorities sustained injuries, and although nine of Portable’s associates were taken into custody, the singer escaped until his most recent surrender.
Portable, born on March 12, 1994, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, gained prominence with his 2021 hit single “ZaZoo Zehh,” featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.
Numerous issues have surrounded his career, including accusations of violent behaviour and public arguments with other artists.
The Ogun State Government has condemned Portable’s actions, describing him as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal.”
They underlined their dedication to upholding the law and making sure that such behaviour is dealt with properly.
