A fire that broke out early on Tuesday morning spread to multiple stores at Owode Market, Offa, Kwara State.
Sahara Reporters saw a video of the incident that showed several of the business owners in tears as they saw their stuff being destroyed by fire.
There is too much fire here. Electricity is not the cause of this. Given the size of the fire, it’s possible that several individuals were cooking when it started,” a trader stated in the video.
According to a town source on Tuesday morning, members of the Kwara State Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service finally put out the fire.
The insider said that the fire had an impact on no less than five stores. Although the case is still being evaluated by the authorities, I personally know that at least five stores were impacted. It is not possible to estimate the value of the products and property lost until the assessment is complete.
“Until the fire service releases their statement on it, there are also several claims as to the cause of the fire,” the person added.
Not even eight months had passed since a nocturnal fire in the town damaged N6.5 million worth of property, razing a residential building.
Four shops and a two-bedroom apartment were affected by the incident that happened at Kowope compound, Olorunkuse neighborhood, Offa, at around 1:05 in the morning.
In two instances that took place in December in the Tanke district of Ilorin, in the Ilorin South Local Government district of Kwara State, no fewer than fourteen shops were reportedly destroyed by fire.
At least seven stores were reported to have burned down at Zion Overcomer, which is located next to Duro Suleiman’s residence on University Road in Tanke. Another seven stores were damaged by fire at the Tanke Oke-Odo neighborhood of University Road at approximately 1:30 in the morning.
