10,581 meritorious junior officers from the Inspectorate cadre, and the rank and file have been cleared for promotion by Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun.
The development was announced in a statement on Friday by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer.
Adejobi stated, “Olukayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police, has approved the promotion of 10,581 worthy junior officers from the inspectorate cadre as well as the rank and file. In compliance with this directive, the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration have been assigned to coordinate efforts in order to start the promotion process as soon as possible.
9,831 police constables are expected to be promoted to the level of corporal, 81 corporals to the rank of sergeant, and 669 officers to the position of inspector, according to the breakdown of promotions.
The IG, while underlining the passion of the force leadership to develop a culture of meritocracy and career advancement, highlighted the crucial role of timely promotions in increasing the morale of officers and bolstering the overall effectiveness of the force.
He stated that it is essential to maintaining the Nigeria Police Force’s continuous efforts to develop its workforce. He did, however, reaffirm that promotions within the Force will only be granted for merit.
The Nigeria Police Force also congratulated all of the officers who were selected for promotion and asked them to continue serving the country with the utmost professionalism, honesty, and professionalism.
