Nantes winger Moses Simon has vowed that the Super Eagles will do everything to pick one of Africa’s ticket to the 2022 Qatar World Cup as a gift to Nigerians.
Nigeria crashed out of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations after a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia in the round of 16 clash in Garoua on Sunday.
Moses, who was one of the Super Eagles outstanding players during tournament, said the defeat was difficult to accept for the team.
Nigeria will face Ghana in a double header in March for a place at the World Cup and Moses believed that the only way to make Nigerians happy for their AFCON ouster is to grab the World Cup ticket.
“We know everyone want to go to the World Cup and the hope is just to go to the World Cup. Nothing more, nothing less. This is the only gift to give to Nigeria fans and I believe we will do everything within our power to do our best to achieve it,” Moses noted.
Moses who was inconsolable after the loss to Tunisia on Sunday, admitted the AFCON was a good experience.
“It was a painful loss. I was so emotional because I think about Nigeria fans, I think about my family and I think about myself because this is not where we want to be. We didn’t prepare for this. We prepared to go far in the tournament but it wasn’t come to a reality,” he added.
“It was a great experience, especially to the team. and I will try to learn from and everyone will learn from it. It was a mistake and we can make up for it.”
