Sidi Ali, a veteran journalist and second republic lawmaker passed away in Kano State on Thursday night at the age of 86.
On Friday, a family member disclosed Ali’s passing.
The elder statesman was committed to serving the country, especially in the area of public information. He is also the father of Hakama Sidi Ali, the acting director of the Corporate Communication Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
In a post on his X account on Friday, human rights advocate and former lawmakers Shehu Sanni termed the dead a human library with the ability to remember every event in Nigerian history.
“I received the sad news of the demise of renowned elder state man, author, journalist, politician, and historian, Alhaji Sidi Ali. The late Sidi a human library was a human library and prolific writer. He was a man who could recall every event that happened in Nigeria till late independence. A great loss. My condolences to his family and people of Kano State,” he said.
Ali worked for the National Broadcasting Commission, the Ministry of Information, and the Nigerian International Press Center.
He was a well-known politician who belonged to the All Progressives Congress and was involved in the Kano State Elders Committee of the party.
