The Federal Government has declared Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1, 2024 as Public holidays in celebration of Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Interior Minister, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government on Wednesday in a statement that was also signed by Aishetu Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
Beyond its religious significance, Easter, according to the Minister, fosters principles of love, forgiveness, and compassion—values that are critical to social harmony and unity.
He urged Christians to aspire to these values because they can have a good effect on Nigeria’s socioeconomic development by promoting harmony, decreasing discord, and promoting collaboration among Nigerians.
In order to help improve the material circumstances of those who are less fortunate than themselves, he also asked Nigerians to engage in deeds of kindness and generosity.
