Hon. Victor Chidi Nwoke, a member for Abakaliki North Constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is currently in power.
The lawmaker gave his reason for leaving the PDP on Monday, citing ongoing and unresolvable issues that were upending PDP both at the national and the state level.
The state governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, is credited with the legislator’s decision to join the APC, citing his leadership prowress and accomplishments, particularly with regard to the People’s Charter of Needs.
“The party has had a severe leadership crisis to the point where it has polarised the organization into opposing groups and hindered efforts to upstage the National Chairman, who is believed to be a stooge of the minister of FCT.
“Even as it struggles with its own micro crisis, the leadership contest between Wike and Atiku witnessed an unprecedented loss of members to other political parties.
“Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State, is a paradigm of perfection because of his leadership skills, which are based on the People’s Charter of Needs,” he remarked.
One of his ardent followers, Mr. Innocent Oriji, the Chairman of the Labour Party for Abakaliki Local Government, joined the congressman in defecting.
The former leader of the Abakaliki Legislative Council, Hon. Emmanuel Nwandegu, together with thousands of his teeming supporters, are among the other defectors.
The lawmaker has finally arrived in the home he rightfully belongs in, according to Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the APC’s state chairman, who welcomed the lawmaker and his supporters into the party.
Emegha assured the lawmaker he would be carried along in the scheme of things and guaranteed a level playing ground.
On behalf of the State governor, the Honourable Member and his supporters were greeted by Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, the wife of the governor, who also gave them assurances of complete inclusiveness.
