Reports indicate that a significant number of villagers, predominantly women and children, were abducted, and many others were left in a state of fear following an attack by heavily armed bandits in Yar-Malamai village, located in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
It was gathered from a resident in the area on Wednesday, that the attack occurred on Monday shortly after the bandits had previously raided a military camp in the vicinity, resulting in casualties among the deployed soldiers.
He mentioned that during the prolonged attack, the assailants also set fire to numerous houses and pillaged shops, taking away valuables in the process.
“As I am speaking to you right now, majority of the people living in the village have deserted the area in fear of another attack.
“The residents have migrated to safer communities in the town, they are in dire need of food and shelter. Government and other well to do individuals should please come to our aid,” the resident said.
As of the time of this report, neither government officials nor security agencies have confirmed the incident.
The Police spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, when contacted, said he would get across to our correspondent after making some clarification on the incident.
