The Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has approved the directive to serve Wunmi, the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad’s wife, with notice of the pending DNA test application by alternative means.
This was stated on Wednesday, which was signed by a member of the legal team and addressed to the Aloba family, Monisola Odumosu.
The family requested an order to serve Wunmi by posting all of the originating proceedings and other processes in the litigation on the respondent’s last-known address in an application that the legal team sent to Joseph Aloba, the late singer’s father.
The statement claimed that the Emmanuel Oroko-led legal team had contended that the sheriff had made two unsuccessful attempts to serve Wunmi with court documents.
According to Odumosu, “it would constitute good service and she would be aware of the pending suit if the process were served on the respondent’s last-known address by order of the court.” The respondent will be served by posting the court process at her last known address, per the Chief Magistrate’s order, which was granted.
Recall that the Aloba family filed an application with the Family Court to challenge Liam’s paternity and requested an order compelling Wunmi to appear with Liam at any approved laboratory in Lagos to submit to a DNA test.
The statement also mentioned that the singer’s wife had declared in a widely shared video that she was prepared for a DNA test and that the court sheriff had never been able to serve her with the original motion.
Odumosu did reveal, that the subject had been postponed until the next month for the report of service.
When contacted, Taiwo Olawanle, Wunmi’s lawyer, denied being aware of the court order.
He declared, “The court order is not with us.” We will tell her to follow any instructions if we have any. That is not an issue. Nevertheless, we are not aware of any orders. That is new information to me from you.
On September 12, 2023, Mohbad passed away at the age of 27, and the circumstances surrounding his passing sparked debates on social media.
Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s Marlian Music record label, departed the label in February 2022. A 13-man special investigation team was established by the Lagos State Police Command on September 18, 2023, to look into the singer’s death.
Along with other people, his killing resulted in the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, better known as Sam Larry.
On September 21, 2023, the singer’s body was dug up for an autopsy to determine the cause of his passing.
