Afrobeats icon David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has praised his colleague, Tems following her victory in the 67th Grammy Awards after she won Best African Music Performance category on Sunday.
Early on Monday morning, the award-winning musician took to social media to congratulate Tems on defeating fierce competitors like Burna Boy, Asake, Yemi Alade, and himself.
Tems secured the Grammy with her hit song Love Me Jeje, marking her second win after previously earning a Grammy for her contribution to Future’s chart-topping single Wait For U.
The Best African Music Performance category was highly competitive, featuring Yemi Alade’s Tomorrow, Asake’s MMS, Chris Brown’s Sensational (featuring Davido & Lojay), and Burna Boy’s Higher. Notably, all the nominees were Nigerian artists, reinforcing the country’s dominance on the global music scene.
Davido expressed his admiration and pride, writing: “Congratulations to my one and only! #chrisbrown! And to the Queen @temsbaby, we are proud of you!”
