Adamu Idris, 35, a cattle rearer, was placed in the Kuje correctional center on Wednesday by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, for reportedly abducting a Bolt driver.
The police charged Idris, with two counts of kidnapping.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Judge Aliyu Shafa directed that the defendant be placed under remand at the Kuje Correctional Center until June 20 for hearing.
Earlier, Okokon Udo, the prosecution’s lawyer, said that the court on September 13, 2023, at Galadimawa, Abuja, the defendant and other people at large planned to kidnap Siman Yakubu, a bolt driver from Tungamaje village, Federal Capital Territory.
He claimed that the defendant and his group demanded for 100 million as ransom.
According to the police, the defendant eventually collected N110,000.
He claimed that the offense was against the Penal Code’s provision of Sections 97 and 274.
