An Abuja based Chinese supermarket situated at the China General Chamber of Commerce, has been shutdown by Officials of the Federal Competition and Consumer and Protection Commission (FCCPC)
The FCCPC officials closed down the supermarket on Monday following their visit to the premises. They sealed the place after questioning Nigerian employees working at the supermarket.
Earlier on Sunday, there was widespread anger among Nigerians due to a discriminatory policy enforced by a Chinese Supermarket. This policy restricted entry solely to Chinese citizens and denied entry to Nigerians.
The facility manager of the complex Shaibu Sanusi confirmed that Nigerians from outside the complex do not shop but Nigerians within can access it.
While the supermarket remains shut, the consumer protection agency seems to believe that some people are hiding inside in a bid to avoid confrontation with the agency.
