Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland and a distinguished monarch of Osun State, has passed away.
His passing was reported in a statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo, the state capital, by Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi.
Prior to Fasuyi confirmation of the monarch’s passing, there was concern for Oba Aromolaran’s well-being since he was rumoured to be ill.
Confirming the monarch’s death, Fasuyi, in a tribute wrote, “An Era Comes To An Abrupt End!

Through his X account on Thursday, former vice president Atiku Abubakar also expressed his profound sadness over the monarch’s passing.
In a statement, Atiku recalled the late monarch’s fatherly warmth, describing him as more than just a father-in-law but as a symbol of courage, boldness, and discipline emblematic of the Ijesa people.
The Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers Chairman and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, as reported in October 2017, clocked 80 years old.
On February 20, 1982, he ascended the throne, and he ruled for 42 years until his death.
