According to reports, Tina Ileogben, a baker, was killed and her heart was taken from her chest at her home on Olowo Street in the Alhaji Sifiwa neigbourhood, Dopemu, Agege, Lagos State.
It was gathered that the victim who is reportedly employed by a bakery failed to show up to work on Wednesday when a coworker was given the order to check her at home.
When the colleague arrived at the location, she discovered that the door to her apartment was ajar and that, upon entering, she had discovered her corpse on her bed.
The coworker promptly raised the alarm, according to a local resident who went by the name Segun. He also added that neighbors who raced to Ileogben’s apartment saw that her throat had been cut and her heart had been taken out of her chest.
“When they were unable to get in touch with Ileogben on phone, one of her coworkers went to check on her at home because the others had not seen her at work. The coworker discovered her lifeless body on the bed when he arrived at her apartment, found the door open, and went inside.
“The criminal cut her throat, reached inside her throat to get to her chest, and took out her heart. Witnesses reported seeing portions of her intestines around her neck, and an attending physician available at the crime scene verified that her heart had been removed.
Ileogben’s older sister, Justina, said that her sister had been sexually assaulted before her death and that there was evidence of her blood in her apartment.
“I am already dead,” she declared. I got a call while at home telling me that my sister had fallen and they needed me to come over. I hurried to her house and noticed that it was crowded.
“I started crying and hurried to my shop because I thought something horrible had happened. Afterwards, after gathering the bravery to enter her apartment to discover what had happened to her, I discovered her corpse.
There were bloodstains on her bed, the wall, and the floor. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that she had been sexually assaulted before her death. She was stabbed in the throat with a knife, and her heart was taken out of her chest.
In addition to demanding justice, Justina pleaded with the persons in charge of the state police command to find the perpetrator who killed her sister.
When contacted, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the state police, verified the occurrence and stated that the deceased’s remains had been evacuated by representatives of the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit to the Mainland General Hospital in Yaba for post-mortem testing.
“Akeem, the deceased’s coworker, and her landlord reported the case at the Dopemu Division,” he stated. Tina Ileogben, the deceased, was due to appear for duty, but when she did not show up, the senior staff member in charge gave him the order to go see how she was doing because she lived nearby the company.
An investigation into the matter is still underway. Nothing of the sort occurred in relation to the lost heart.”
