Arsenal fans taunt Iwobi after sub role
Arsenal fans took to Twitter on Sunday to taunt Alex Iwobi after he suffered ignominy at home to champions Manchester City on Saturday night.
The Toffees shelled out a fee in the region of £40m for Iwobi but he is yet to really make his mark at the Merseyside club despite scoring two goals and providing two assists in six appearances for the Toffees.
Iwobi was dropped from the starting line-up in favour of Theo Walcott, but just seven minutes in, Iwobi was called upon, replacing Walcott after he suffered a head injury from a Raheem Sterling cross.
But Iwobi did not see the game out and was substituted by Marco Silva in the second half, coming off to be replaced by another summer signing Moise Kean. And there was plenty of reaction to the move on social media.
“Alex Iwobi subbed on then subbed off after an hour. He cost £40m by the way,” Jackson Bowen tweeted.
Jay Farrell wrote,” Everton need to show some respect to my boy Iwobi. Marco Silva should be sacked, no one disrespects Iwobi.”
“Iwobi came off the bench and he gets taken off Loool. We sold this guy for £35m+,” Mustapha Hakeem wrote.
“Alex Iwobi, who came on as a substitute, has been substituted. @Everton we told you,” Charles Osborne tweeted.
“Iwobi subbed on and off is so disrespectful, £32m we got for Iwobi,”Yasiin Bey added.
“£35m for Iwobi and he didn’t start the game, gets out on and then subbed again and arsenal fans wanted to keep him.”
