Chief Edwin Clark, a leader of the Ijaw nation, has requested that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, be placed under arrest by Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun for threatening to set fire to states governed by governors from the People Democratic Party.
Remember that on Saturday during the party’s state congress, Wike cautioned the PDP governors to avoid becoming involved in the party’s affairs in Rivers State during his speech at the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
In a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, Clark said the words of the minister marked a “flagrant disrespect to the person of President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him”, describing his comments as “unbridled”, and added that his comments were a form of treason as it was capable of inciting violence in the country.
He said that Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress’ presidential candidate, and #EndBadgovernance protesters had been arrested for similar offences, and he insisted that the Inspector General (IG) should do the same for the FCT minister and compel him to retract his remarks.
