According to reports, a fight in Isale Koko, Ojagboro area, Ilorin in the Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State resulted in the death of a guy known as Usman Abubakar.
The dispute between him (the deceased) and another man, Omotosho Jimoh, of the Elekoyangan area, Oke-Suna, Ilorin, who is currently at large, resulted in the tragedy, which transpired last Wednesday.
Police claim that the incident started as a small disagreement that turned into a fight, which ultimately resulted in Usman’s death.
“The Kwara State Police Command is saddened to report a tragic incident of culpable homicide which occurred on March 20, 2024, in Ilorin,” stated Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the State Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement regarding the incident.
On March 20, 2024, about 8:30 p.m., Mr. Adebayo Ahmed, a resident of Isale Koko, Ojagboro, Ilorin, reported that his son, Usman Abubakar, had been involved in a distressing occurrence.
It was made known that at approximately 7:30pm on the same day, Usman and one Omotosho Jimoh of Elekoyankan Area, Oke-suna, Ilorin, got into a physical altercation over a small disagreement.
Sadly, Usman Abubakar collapsed during the dispute and was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
“The crime scene was visited right away, and all required documentation was completed. Nevertheless, the deceased’s family has refused to allow the body to be taken for an autopsy, stating that they prefer to bury their loved one in accordance with Islamic customs.
“A preliminary investigation has been launched by the Kwara State Police Command, and efforts are in progress to apprehend the suspect, Omotosho Jimoh, and determine the complete circumstances surrounding this regrettable incident.
The command reassured the public, Ejire-Adeyemi continued, that every attempt was being made to bring the offenders to justice.
