The State House agencies’ 2025 budget, according to Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, will be established on a needs assessment.

According to him, this was done to ensure that funds allocated to agencies was in accordance with actual requirements.

Gbajabiamila addressed the newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, following a one-day fact-finding tour of several government agencies overseen by the State House.

He said, “In any country in the world, resources are limited. For us it is about prioritising. Where are we so far? What have the agencies done?

“How have they measured up to their mandates and how important are their mandates in terms of the vision of this administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda?

“A lot of agencies are not properly funded. Do we merge some of these agencies, do we scrap some? I’m not talking about the State House agencies.

“In 2025 we are not going to budget in a vacuum. We will budget based on needs assessment.”

Previously, in separate meetings with the heads and employees of the agencies, the Chief of Staff promised that the State House would oversee the Presidency’s efforts to improve the welfare and working conditions of its employees in the agencies.

He encouraged the employees of these agencies to support the success of their Chief Executives by embracing innovation, excellence, and professionalism.

In addition, Gbajabiamila underlined how crucial it is for the procurement process to be transparent in order to maintain the administration’s commitment to accountability and sound governance.

Gbajabiamila paid visits to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Bureau of Public Procurement, Bureau of Public Enterprises, and the Nigeria Agriculture and Land Development Agency.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Hadeija, the Permanent Secretary of State House, Olufunso Adebiyi, and Senior Special Assistant to the President, Administration and Operations (Office of the Chief of Staff) Mrs Oyinade Nathan-Marsh.
