The Federal Capital Territory police command has dispatched a total of 4,200 police officers throughout the nation’s capital in advance of the planned nationwide protest.
Additionally, the command said that experts in explosive ordinance devices would be stationed at many key places.
The deployment, according to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, on Friday, was made to safeguard protesters and the general public, as well as to keep non-state actors from taking over the protests.
In cooperation with sister security services, she continued, there will be operations such as stop and search, raids on known black areas, and incomplete buildings or shantytowns.
