Abia State Governor, Alex Otti stated that his administration’s goals are to recover embezzled money and establish good governance, not to engage in conflict with anyone.
Otti made this statement at Nvosi during a visit of solidarity by a number of groups and supporters of Chief Rowland Chinwend, the state representative for Isialangwa South.
He clarified that his goal is the development and progress of Abia state , emphasizing that if a project is not found, the previous administration will reimburse the N10 billion that was spent on the airport.
He said that his administration would soon start building a medical city in Abia, which would draw residents in need of serious medical attention to the state.
Otti maintained that his administration’s work in the state is merely a rehearsal, as he is more focused on bringing about the benefits of democracy in his second year in office.
He thanked the lawmaker for his support in the State House of Assembly and referred to Hon. Chinwendu and his group of supporters’ visit as a positive omen.
He further disclosed that they have been working together since the inception of the 8th Assembly.
He said, “I established forensic audit of our account as soon as I was sworn in and the report turns out that a lot of money was looted , stolen brazenly and part of the one I mentioned was the N10 billion Abia airport project. They started insulting me. If you follow what is happening in the media, you would know that what I said is true.
“We are looking for our money. If we are not able to find the airport, they would have to refund us our money. We are not pursing anybody, they should refund the money they stole, let’s use it to work for our people.
“Our place must develop. We will continue to build road , we will continue to be cleaning up the environment, we will continue to create jobs , we will continue to put our state on the map.
“Our educational system must be completely revamped, our hospital system must not only work but will be to that level where the rest of the world is today.”
Honorable Rowland Chiwendu, the member representing Isialangwa South State Constituency, stressed in his speech that he cannot afford to be seen as opposing the governor, who is a resident of the same council area, and that the people of Isiala Ngwa South sent him to the House to represent their interests with its democratic dividends.
The lawmaker praised Otti for his ongoing reconstruction on the Umuikaa-Umuene road reconstruction as well as other projects, he also mentioned that he brought his supporters that they are proud of his accomplishments while in office.
The coming of the governor at this time is divine, according to Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Prince Uzo Nwachukwu and Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South LGA Dr. Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele, who described the Otti as a leader on a divine mission to rebuild the state for the better.
Isiala Ngwa South LGA Chairman Chief Ifeanyi Isikaku and Mr. Henry Ori, for their part, expressed gratitude to God for sending Governor Alex Otti to rebuild Abia and expressed satisfaction that the governor had turned Abia into a construction site.
