Nigeria’s athletics star, Tobi Amusan, met fans’ expectations by winning the gold medal in the 100m hurdles final at the ongoing African Games in Ghana.
Amusan, the world record holder in the 100m hurdles, was the clear favorite before the race. However, she received a yellow card for a false start initially but then lined up again to compete.
On the second time of the gun going off, Amusan did not make any mistake, sprinting to an easy win where she clocked a time of 12.89s.
The win means the Nigerian completed a hat-trick of African Games titles, having won the last two editions in Congo Brazzaville and Rabat.
The other Nigerian athlete in the race, Faith Osamuyi, just missed out on a podium finish after running 13.77s in fourth place.
