After a brief illness, the beloved King, who ruled for two years, passed away at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State, late on Thursday evening at the age of 81.
The deceased’s younger brother, Kola Balogun, who is known as Baba-Kekere Olubadan, revealed the funeral plans. The late Oba Balogun’s personal assistant (media), Oladele Ogunsola, made a statement stating that the funeral will follow Islamic customs and be held in his ancestral house in Aliiwo, Ibadan.
The illustrious Oba Lekan Balogun had a varied background, having received his Ph.D. from a British university, lectured at universities in the past, and enjoyed a prosperous career in both the business and political domains. His accomplishments in academia, business, and public service encompassed his achievements beyond his time as a Monarch.
