The General Secretary of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Southwest Zone, Chief Rahman Owokoniran has indicated that his immediate focus is not to contest the Lagos State governorship election but to work for unity and the stability of the party.
A statement by Owokoniran said given that the next general election is around the corner, his primary interest is the unity of the party. He said a united PDP would ensure that Nigerians are delivered from bad governance and the anti-people policies inflicted on them by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governments at all levels.
He said: “I have not shown interest in contesting the governorship election of Lagos State. Working for the unity of the party, especially with the election year 2023 very close, takes primacy over every other consideration right now.
“With a united PDP, we will be able to answer Nigerians’ calls for deliverance from misgovernance and anti-people policies. We, as a party, cannot afford to lose focus and disappoint Nigerians. And so any distraction must be avoided.”
