A 30-year-old man has died following a shooting at a boxing gym in Ireland established by the father of world champion Katie Taylor.
The incident happened at about 6.55am on Tuesday at the Bray Boxing Club in County Wicklow, founded by Pete Taylor, who was injured in the shooting.
Mr Taylor, 57, and another man aged 35 have been taken to hospital.
It is believed the attacker entered the club and fired a number of shots.
Irish police said that the suspect left the scene of the shooting in a silver-coloured Volkswagen van with Northern Ireland registration plates.
Garda, Ireland’s police force, are investigating the incident.
Bray Municipal District Council owns the building in which the club is run and said last month: “We currently have a licensing agreement with Bray Boxing Club for their use of the gym, but we are currently drawing up a lease.”
Katie Taylor unified the WBA and IBF lightweight world titles with victory over Victoria Noelia Bustos in just her ninth appearances in the paid ranks in April.
