The Police Command in Lagos State has confirmed the death of a 58-year-old man (name withheld) who was said to have embarked on a 19-day fast.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Lagos.
According to Hundeyin, the incident occurred on Monday at about 6:00 am in the state’s Alagbado axis.
He stated that the incident was reported to the Alagbado Police Division at around 7 p.m. on Monday by the deceased younger brother, whose identity was not disclosed.
The younger brother claimed that during what was reportedly a 19-day dry fast, his brother passed away.
Hundeyin said, “No foul play suspected, family demands to convey the corpse for burial.”
